Training Courses

In the course of the Network III project, 15 training courses "Researching Country of Origin Information" were provided for approximately 160 participants from 20 European countries. The courses were aimed mainly towards COI researchers and COI users from all parties involved in RSD procedures, i.e. decision makers and legal counsellors, and for inexperienced COI researchers (initial training). Other groups trained include documentation center staff, students, volunteers and border guards.

Training courses were realised as blended learning courses (12 hours tutored self-studying, 1 day face-to-face training) or as two-day workshops, depending on the needs and characteristics of the respective target group. Each training has been organised by one partner organisation of the COI Network III. It was conducted by two participants of the Training Course for COI Trainers and co-trained or supervised by experienced trainers of the Hungarian Helsinki Committee and ACCORD.

The blended learning course "Researching Country of Origin Information" consists of an e-training phase and a face-to-face meeting. In the first phase, participants work through the modules of the e-training course, which takes about four to five hours a week for the duration of three weeks. This activity is accompanied by e-tutors who support participants during this self-study phase via online forum. The second phase of the training consists of a 1-day face-to-face meeting of participants and trainers, where participants get the chance to discuss lessons learned and apply their newly gained knowledge in conducting case studies.
